The Cobden and District Historical Society is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing the rich history of our local area. Our collection spans a wide range of subjects, including schools, timber cutting and milling, the dairy and sheep industries, war memorabilia, and the histories of local clubs, families, and businesses. In short, we are committed to “preserving the past and the present for the future.”
Established in 1985 at the request of local residents, the Society operated from several temporary locations before finding its permanent home at “The Chocolyn Hall” in Grayland Street, Cobden.
We also assist with family history research for those with connections to the Cobden district. If you’re interested in learning more or seeking help with your own family history, please contact us via the email address provided above.
Membership is only $20 per year and by becoming a member you can:
• Help preserve and promote our local heritage
• Receive newsletters containing interesting articles
• Gain free access to our Heritage Centre Museum and use the research facilities at a reduced cost
• Get involved with the running of the Historical Hall
• Meet with people who share your interest in local history
